Unlimited Paid Time Off
MindsDB has a policy of unlimited paid time off. Staff are entrusted to take as much time off as they need and the company requests staff members take a minimum of 20 days annual leave per year (not including holidays). We encourage and support staff to take the Public Holidays and Religious Holidays applicable in their location.
We offer unlimited ‘Personal Days’ - there's a child at home who's sick, if your washing machine explodes and floods your apartment, if there's a family emergency, you can use a personal day to take care of yourself or those around you.

Fully Remote Culture
All MindsDB staff work remotely - our team work in all different timezones, on all different schedules. We collaborate remotely via Zoom (and tools like Slack, Asana, Jira) and socialize remotely (with regular zoom social events, parties, language conversation classes etc). Work for MindsDB and work from anywhere! Many of our staff travel regularly, working as they go! We endeavour to connect with each other regularly as humans.
Remote working can be isolating and it’s important to us that our team members are supported, feel connected to their fellow team members and also have the ability to totally step away from work, disconnect from remote working tools and have distraction free personal time.

To help our people to work remotely effectively we offer staff a budget to upgrade their remote working setup to ensure they have all the equipment and setup they need. This is available to all staff who have been with us for more than 3 months.

Wellbeing Budget
All of our staff have access to a monthly wellbeing budget. This budget is given to staff for them to spend on health and wellness initiatives that are relevant to them and their needs. It is designed to support health and wellness whether that be physical, mental, emotional or psychological.
People can choose what being “healthy” means to them and how to achieve it best. Where some people may love hiking outdoors, others may prefer to do group fitness classes. Some might want a gym membership, others a sports massage or therapy session.

MindsDB has regular in-person trips to allow our remote team to come together, collaborate together in person and to get to know each other better.
Once a year: - An All-Staff Offsite: Cowdray House UK 2022 - A Technical Offsite (where our Engineering and Technically focussed team members will meet): Istanbul 2022
- A Non-Technical Offsite (where our remaining teams meet!) Canada 2022
Twice a year:
- Strategy Offsite (where our leadership meet to plan and prepare for the upcoming 6 months!)
Subteams also have a budget to meet at another time throughout the year at a location of the team’s choosing!

All staff have regular Personal Development calls with the HR Team at MindsDB to discuss possibilities and ideas they have for Personal Development.Personal Development can mean honing key skills and competencies in a staff member’s current role, it can be Career Path Progression to move towards promotion (e.g. management), it can be career transition to move cross-departmentally into a new role in the organisation. Personal Development can also be personal and developing psychologically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.So whether it’s a book, an online course, academic study, a conference, mentoring, coaching, work-life balance, meditation - MindsDB aims to support the team (with time and financial resource) to develop in the way that is right for them, at the time that’s right for them, at a speed that’s right for them.

Mental Health Support
We know that the world can feel a bit heavy from time to time and we want to make sure our team gets support, if and when they need it.We launched Spill in May 2022 to give everyone in the team access to comprehensive mental health support. Spill offers access to video therapy sessions with qualified therapists (one-off or a course), together with exercises and helpful reading materials, all integrated into our remote collaboration tool Slack. They also offer a one-off ask-a-therapist feature if you don't want to commit to an entire session.Remote working can be isolating and burnout can happen to anyone - Staff are welcome to use their wellbeing budget for external counselling or therapy support (or any other resource to support their mental health) as needed and we encourage staff to reach out for anything else they need. We are committed to offering our staff the regular rest and breaks they need to maintain a healthy work life balance.
